Brady Hotel Seriously Damaged by Lightning Strike Fire
A fire ignited by a lightning strike seriously damaged a Brady hotel and injured a firefighter while being contained on Thursday, according to the Brady Fire/EMS Department.
Ron Larson, administration assistant for the Brady Fire/EMS Department, stated that the fire began in the afternoon of Thursday, May 21, after lightning struck the southern side of the roof of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Brady. Larson said that the bolt traveled through the hotel’s attic before blowing out of the structure’s western side, above the carport.
Larson said the department was called at 3:45 p.m. in reference to the fire.
The Brady Fire/EMS Department, alongside the Brownwood Fire Department and several volunteer fire departments from surrounding communities, all responded to the blaze.
