Several Texas counties were among the fastest growing in the nation, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates in 2025.

Loving County, which is the smallest county in the country based on population, was the fastest-growing in the state, with a population increase of 10.64%. That also makes it the fastest-growing county in the country. It’s population is still tiny, though, having grown from 47 in 2024 to 52 in 2025.

Waller County, northwest of Houston, is the second-fastest-growing county in the state, with a population increase of 5.69%. That makes it the third-fastest-growing in the country, behind Jasper County, South Carolina, which grew by 6.04%.

Kaufman and Liberty counties also appear in the top 10 fastest-growing in the country, growing by 5.67% and 4.36%, respectively. Statewide, Texas’ population grew by 1.25% between 2024 and 2025.
